Brian Krueger offers a candid and strong suggestion on the tough: ‘tell me about your greatest weakness’ question, or, a similar version I have used, ‘tell me about one weakness, everybody has some, that you have.’
I have always thought that answering this with what could be interpreted as a strength, for instance, ‘I work too hard’ was the clever way to go. Brian’s right, that approach is “deceiving, and misses the point of the question.”
Everyone has weaknesses. You’re more credible and trustworthy when you identify something you do consider a weakness, and also elaborate with steps you’ve taken to improve.
