When my daughter was young she suffered from low confidence and she lacked control. I observed in myself an annoying confidence, a persistent ability to proceed even while petrified. I wondered how my daughter could be such an opposite and what I could do to help her. After much introspection I discovered that I have certain values that run through me like my lifeblood. I shared these values with Marissa. Today she is a marvelous 23 year old woman who is the embodiment of my theme but translated to fit her personality. She is independent, with a clear idea of what she wants from life. And she did it all by herself!
I share these values with my clients and I can share them with you! Here it is. Say this over and over to yourself:
I am CALM, CONFIDENT, AND COURAGEOUS!
That is it. It sounds silly and easy. But really if you say this softly to yourself you too can have the same reaction and result Marissa did.
When you say these magic words you will sit up straight, look the world right in the eyes and feel like you can take on the world. Your whole outlook will change. Really! Try it right now. Repeat after me:
I am CALM, CONFIDENT, AND COURAGEOUS!
A calm, confident, and courageous person is not afraid to pick up the phone and call someone he doesn’t know. Or look someone right in the eye and tell her story with a solid, confident, prepared tone when asked, “tell me a little about yourself”.
A calm, confident, and courageous person goes into a networking meeting without knowing a soul, confident he will meet someone to talk to. She is not be afraid to post a comment or ask a question on a LinkedIn group. He has a strong confident handshake looking directly in his new contact’s eyes.
What could you do if you were calm, confident, and courageous? How would your job search be different?
How can I help?
